Grandview Heights built the current high school in 1923, and the original building had the gymnasium on the first floor off the main corridor (where the current auditorium is located). In 1945 an addition was proposed (top photo) that would house a memorial to the Grandview Heights High School students who gave their lives in World War II (shown in the rendering by Benham and Richards Architects at the top; the drawing appears to have a gymnasium located behind the memorial structure). The bottom photo from 1957 shows the final construction stages of the gymnasium located at the south end of the school. The architectural drawing is from a collection of materials that was recovered from a storage space in the high school.
